Who we are
SurrogacyUK Foundation is the first surrogacy charity in the UK (and one of the first in the world).
It was founded in 2023 by members and friends of SurrogacyUK, the UK’s largest surrogacy organisation. We operate independently to achieve our charitable objectives on behalf of the UK’s surrogacy community. You can read about our relationship with SurrogacyUK and how we maintain our independence here.
We’re a young charity and we’re looking forward to making a positive difference to the future of surrogacy in the UK, and demonstrating ethical practice in surrogacy globally.

I am a family solicitor, and a collaborative lawyer, practising all areas of family law, with a specialism in surrogacy. My aim for the Foundation is to help educate all members of the legal profession and judiciary and raise awareness and understanding of the benefits of surrogacy for modern family-building and family life. -

Trustee
I'm currently CEO of SurrogacyUK and I've been part of the surrogacy community for over 20 years. I'm a passionate advocate for the surrogacy community and - as a five-times surrogate - I'm especially interested in making sure that surrogates' voices are heard in conversations about surrogacy and that their rights and bodily autonomy are respected. I also believe that the welfare of the people that they help bring into the world is the primary consideration in surrogacy arrangements, and advocate for openness, transparency and ongoing relationships as best practice for all UK surrogacy journeys.I'm so happy that the UK has a charity to support the public's understanding of this important pathway to parenthood.

Dr Zaina Mahmoud
Trustee
I'm a legal academic and I research the social and legal aspects of surrogacy, pregnancy and reproductive technologies. I'm especially interested in the experiences and wellbeing of surrogates in different countries, and in ensuring that children's voices are heard in the development of surrogacy law. My hope for the Foundation is to continue the long-standing collaboration between the surrogacy community and the academic community to develop research that impacts legal reform and the public understanding of surrogacy. -

Gemma Peacock
Trustee
I am a specialist Safeguarding Nurse with a background in public health nursing and previous experience working as a Health Visitor. Throughout my career, I have supported children, families, and vulnerable individuals through complex and emotionally sensitive situations.I have a particular interest in trauma informed practice, and my professional experience has given me a deep understanding of ethical practice, family dynamics, and the importance of ensuring every voice is heard and represented. This aligns closely with surrogacy advocacy, where empathy, safeguarding, emotional support, and collaborative working are essential.
My aspiration for the charity is supporting inclusive family journeys and championing the wellbeing and rights of all involved in surrogacy.

Trustee
As a surrogate I've experienced both the joy that surrogacy can bring, and the need to improve conditions for everyone involved: my ambition for the charity is to achieve that improvement through education. I've held several roles in the third sector and I'm working with young people with special educational needs, I'm passionate about inclusion and looking forward to making a difference through the Foundation.
